Map of offices in Cardiff

Short Background

Cardiff, Wales’ capital city and the eleventh-largest city in the United Kingdom, is the country's chief commercial centre where innovative architecture and modern serviced offices sit alongside historic buildings. The Welsh capital may have begun its life as a Roman fort, but it's since become a bustling city, emerging in the new millennium as one of Britain’s leading urban centres. Where the fort once stood, Cardiff Castle has held court since the 11th century. It remains a central presence in the city, now full of lively art and music venues, restaurants, bars and modern hotels.

Benefits to working here

The importance of Cardiff is best illustrated nowadays by its inclusion in the Eurocities network of major European cities, whose aim it is to put the issue of cities and their economic, political and social development onto the European agenda. Developments such as the regeneration of the Cardiff Bay and city centre projects such as the Cardiff International Sports Village, a BBC drama village, and a new business district in the city centre all make Cardiff a very attractive place to rent furnished offices and grow your business.

Although Cardiff only makes up about 10% of the country’s population, its economy accounts for over 20% of Wales’ GDP. The finance and business services are largely responsible for its economic growth. The city is very popular with tourists and especially popular with sports fans, as the National Rugby Union stadium, the Principality Stadium, has contributed over £1 billion to the Welsh economy in the ten years it’s been open. Cardiff Central railway station is the largest railway station in Wales, while Cardiff Airport provides domestic and international links. The M4 is the principal motorway in the region that connects Cardiff with Swansea to the west, and Newport and London to the east.

Things to do

The revitalized waterfront at Cardiff Bay includes the Wales Millennium Centre, home of the national opera, orchestra, theater and dance companies, plus shops at Mermaid Quay. However, despite there being so many new and exciting things to see, the National History Museum is still the most visited attraction in Wales, perhaps due to the fact it’s easy to explore on foot and free to enter!
